Christmas Home Tour

The most magical time of the year for me are the holidays! Must be all the twinkle lights, fresh smell of pine, and family time. Keep reading to see a few areas of our home decorated for the holidays! I invite you to grab a cup of hot cocoa and scroll down to see some of our home dressed for the holidays.

My biggest piece of advice! Stay true to yourself! Don’t feel you need to decorate just because everyone else does.. Take your time and enjoy all the beauty this season brings. Don’t let all the decoration overwhelm you! A tree with lights and no ornaments is perfectly okay( and to be honest, I think what I’m going to do this year)

Enjoy this season because it will be over before you know it!

My decor this year is a mixture of greenery, metals, lights, and some touches of red and velvet. Each year I try to do things a little bit differently and this year my focus is on brining more of the outdoors in. Fresh greens and pinecones from around our homestead. A few tree’s, and lots of candles and sparkle!

Dining Room

I wanted to bring in lots of natural elements to the dining room plus lots of cozy and twinkle. Fresh pine around the lights, lots of vintage brass candlesticks and some beautiful red glass votives.

I’ve always had a small tree in the dining room but this year I went with a 9ft pre-lit tree by King of Christmas and it does not disappoint. This is the Noble Fir and it is so lifelike and beautiful. It took me under 10 minutes to set up and is truly a statement piece.

They have some wonderful sales going on now if you’re wanting to still get a tree or pre-lit garland, etc. CLICK HERE

We have Jared’s grandma’s piano in our dining room and it is a special piece to have in our home for Little Ava to learn to play.

I have a collaboration with Cottonwood Shanty for three different scrolls and this is the homestead scroll. I love what it says so very much.

I love what this scroll says so much, plus it is such a statement piece in the home. You can order one HERE as well as other scrolls in our collection.

I love placing a tree in a basket instead of using a traditional stand. It makes it look more put together and cozy. Look at Sweet Ava sitting there. She has really loved “playing” the piano lately.

Here is a sneak peek at our table! It’s all decked out for the holidays. More to come on that next week.

I went around our homestead and cut down different versions of pine and put them in a few vases. I love how this adds volume and texture around our home and also brings in a wonderful fresh scent! I am still planing on adding some lights and garland to this large mirror in our dining room. Stay tuned for more!

KITCHEN

I love adding a little bit of Christmas with some greenery, some brass tones, and even a few trees. My trick is to put the trees in pots or old candle vessels. This way they look more decorative and festive and can also blend in with your kitchen.

I also love a simple wreath and the touch of a few bells and chimes. Vintage cutting boards and an antique kettle add cozy vibes and warmth to the kitchen.

I recently created this corner in our home right next to the kitchen and I LOVE it so much! A place to put our fresh eggs, some linens, and dishes. It’s the perfect corner and adding a few small trees and an oversized jingle bell really makes this space so fun.

Making memories with Ava this season have been by far my favorite. Baking cookies and spending time together as a family are all parts of this season and I am embracing each one!

Below is a peek of our reading nook right next to our kitchen! More to come on this later

LIVING ROOM

This is my first year truly decorating the living room with a really big tree! We have the tradition of always going to get a tree the weekend after thanksgiving and I still plan on going to cut one down but having a faux tree that is easy to set up and pre-lit really made it so much easier.

This is a 12 foot tree and I just love how big and bright it is! It brings such a cozy vibe and I might end up keeping this up all year if Jared let’s me.

I love to support small shops so I got the beautiful garland on the mantle from one of my favorite small shops The Nested Fig

I ordered the large jingle bells from Cottonwood Shanty and I love how they look somewhat masculine on the table next to the glowing light of the tree. I snuck in a few traditional pieces with the pattered pillows in the living room. My style is not one style. I love to mix things together and I feel that’s what makes our house feel like a home. It’s those personal touches that make all the difference.

I tend to go for a less is more approach. I don’t wan’t things to be overdone and over the top. I do however love things to be cozy and full of tiny bits of magic and sparkle.

After Ava was born I wanted to do something special each year for her during the holiday. I tried to find something that could be a tradition. I found this simple beautiful heirloom ornament from Haven and Pine. They are another small shop I love!

When you open it up it has cards inside that can be written on each year. My plan is to write memories form the holiday each year and as Ava grows older she can read memories from years passed. I just loved this idea so much and I can’t believe I am getting ready to write my second note to her already. Time is surely flying by.

I have yet to add lights to the mantle, but I do love the cascade of brass bells down the side and the little pops of pinecones form the outdoors. I love adding antique crates and baskets to store fresh logs in or blankets. These are items we use regularly and I like to be able to reach for them easily but yet have them be part of the living room in a beautiful way.

I hope you have loved taking a peek into our home for Christmas! More to come from me as I share other spaces in our home in the coming weeks! Better Homes and Gardens Farmhouse Christmas is coming to shoot here in a few weeks and I cannot wait to share that process with you as well.
