Springtime lemonade with Ball ® Canning

Spring is here and the warm crisp air calls for a delicious drink to sip while out on the front porch! I love lemonade and this one is much more fun than the traditional version. Not to mention it looks perfect served in NEW Ball® Flute Jars which are so beautiful! Scroll down for recipe.

Fresh ingredients make this lemonade delicious and unique! Basil, ginger, lemon, and blueberries, plus honey to sweeten it! No sugar needed!

I started by picking some fragrant fresh basil from our greenhouse! Even Ava helped me. Well, she mostly tried to eat it, but still. I love how the Ball® Flute Jars offer a refined design in these new jars! You can use them not only for drinks but for flowers and canning too!

For this lemonade it’s fun to layer the ingredients on the bottom staring with the blueberries. Then add basil, fresh ginger, lemon and honey and then pour the water!

Fresh squeezed lemons and raw organic honey! A delicious combination that makes this lemonade extra sweet and tasty!

Fresh ginger adds a nice kick and taste wonderful with the lemon and honey!

I add mostly water, but at the very end you can add splash of sparkling water to give it a little fizz! You can do the whole lemonade with sparkling water if you want for an extra fizzy treat!

Serve it with some fresh basil and your favorite straw and voila! Tasty, delicious lemonade in the most beautiful Ball® Flute Jars ! I think presentation is always key and a jar like this is classic and can be used for so much! Definitely makes drinking lemonade way more fun!

Blueberry Basil Lemonade

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup fresh lemon juice ( about 4-5 lemons)

1/2 cup raw honey

1 cup fresh blueberries

1 inch piece raw ginger

8 basil leaves + more to garnish

4 cups of water

4 cups crushed ice

Sparkling water

DIRECTIONS

1.Juice lemons and mix in a jar with the honey. Set aside

2.On the bottom of each jar put 4-5 blueberries

3. Tear 1-2 basil leaves on the bottom of each jar

4. Muddle the berries and basil with a wooden spoon

5. Pour 1/4 cup of the lemon/honey mixture into each jar

6. Zest some ginger into every jar. I like about a pinch’s worth. You can add less or more depending on desired amount of kick you want.

7. Add a cup of crushed ice into every jar

8. Fill to almost the top with water ( about a cup of water)

9.Add a splash of sparkling water

10. Garnish with fresh basil and serve with a straw in your Ball® Flute Jars!
